Tim Frank is the director of TIM FRANK ARCHITECTURE, a nationally recognized design studio based in Atlanta. Through a combination of practice and research, his work explores the role of design media technology in developing both sensible and sustainable architectural environments. Tim’s work has received numerous awards including first place in the 2012 AIA 10up competition and grand prize in the 2009 AIA 48 hours competition. His work has been exhibited in several museums and galleries including his 2010 solo exhibition of work entitled, “Sense & Sustain - ability” at the Museum of Design in Atlanta. His research has also been featured in many publications and venues around the world including his 2008 talk entitled, “Auditory Sketching” at the Palais des Congres in Paris, France.

Tim currently works with the Center for Design Research where he employs design media technology to study natural ventilation and daylighting strategies as the team expands its research from the award winning LUMENHAUS into the area of net-zero high-density housing. He is also working with the team to develop multifunctional building envelopes that will direct prevailing breezes, naturally daylight interior space, and provide views for inhabitants within increasingly intensified densities. The resultant proof of concept models and initial prototypes were exhibited at the 2012 International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York City.
