Kitchen of the Future Exhibited in Las Vegas

The Kitchen of the Future, developed by a team of Virginia Tech faculty and students through the Center for Design Research, was exhibited January 20-22 in Las Vegas at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show, North America’s premier annual event dedicated to the kitchen and bath industry. Prof. Joseph Wheeler (Architecture), lead researcher and Co-Director of the Center for Design Research; Prof. Denis Gracanin, from the College of Engineering’s Department of Computer Science; and a team of students and faculty from industrial design, architecture, interior design, visual communication design, and computer science developed the kitchen as part of the FutureHAUS research project that explores manufacturing strategies and the greater integration of technology with architecture and the industrial production of smart homes.
